In The Correct Mode: Volkswagen Golf

You can do no wrong when coupling good music with cool cars and Volkswagen continued to do so with an advertisement now in regular rotation which features one of the A-list music makers from the 1980’s the band Depeche Mode.

Depeche Mode’s 1984 hit “People Are People” was a groovy little riff which was popular world wide, climbing to as high as #13 in the U.S., #4 in the U.K. and in Germany it was a solid #1 hit. In fact, so popular it was in that country that West German TV used it as the opening theme song for their television coverage of the 1984 Olympic Games.

Appropriate it is that Germany, the original home of VW, would herald this song on high and even better the operative title of the song “People are People” is heralding the “People’s Car”.
